Elementary Students Will Receive Fresh Fruits and Veggies Every Day
Fresh Fruit and Vegetable program has been extended thanks to a grant from the Illinois State Board of Education.
The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable program at Tibbot Elementary School has been extended to include fresh fruits and veggies every day of the school week through the end of the year.
The program has been expanded thanks to a grant from the Illinois State Board of Education, according to the Valley View School District website.
The grant will allow Tibbot students to continue to receive fresh fruits and veggies five days a week instead of only three.

“The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable program has allowed us to make a connection between what our students are learning in their science nutrition curriculum and real life,” said Tibbott Principal Ana Wilson. “Not only are we able to talk about nutrition, but we are also able to “Walk the Talk” by exposing them to various options for adding fresh fruits and vegetables into their daily diet.”
Tibbot students will receive bananas, apples, grapes, star fruit, kumquat, guava and blackberries.
