Jane Addams Wins Fountaindale Library's Great Page Race

More than 1,150 teens recorded reading at least one page in annual competition and prizes are awarded by Friends of the Fountaindale Public Library.

Jane Addams Middle School is the winner of the Fountaindale Public Library’s 2013 Great Page Race. 

More than 1,200 teens registered for the competition with 1,162 of them reading and recording at least one page. Students from all three Valley View School District 365U schools read a grand total of 1,233,612 pages.  

Winners were chosen based on two factors: the participation percentage of each school and/or classroom and the number of pages read per student.

Some 421 Jane Addams students read 499,799 pages giving the school a  $300 collection of paperback books and the school's name on a traveling plaque.

Second place went to Hubert H. Humphrey Middle School with 476 participants reading 461,728. The school receives a $200 collection of paperback books.

Brooks Middle School finished third with 265 students reading 273,098 pages.

The library also named classroom winners, each of whom will receive a $100 gift card for a pizza party & a set of books that are 2014 Rebecca Caudill Nominees.

From Brooks, Kerrie Lesac’s language arts students read 62,617 pages. At Humphrey Stephanie Sewasciuk’s students read 103,943 pages. At Addams Jill Neumayer’s students read 127,424.

Prizes were donated by the Friends of the Fountaindale Public Library.
