Tibbott's Amanda Tucker Named Region's Assistant Principal of the Year

"Amanda's energy, enthusiasm and creativity (have) been a motivating force for students, staff and the school community as a whole," says Bolingbrook Tibbott Elementary School Principal Ana Wilson.

The Illinois Principals Association has honored Tibbott Elementary School’s Amanda Tucker as the group’s Three Rivers Region Assistant Principal of the Year.

Michael Merritt, Principal of Stevens Intermediate School in Wilmington presented the award to Tucker at Monday night’s VVSD Board of Education meeting on behalf of the Three Rivers Region which covers public schools in Will, Kankakee, Grundy and Kendall counties.

“Amanda excels in her role as an instructional leader,” Merritt said. “There are many assistant principals in the Three Rivers Region which makes this award that much more special.”

“I’m very honored,” Tucker said. “We have many fantastic assistant principals in Valley View alone who deserve this honor as well. It’s great to be recognized.”

Tucker, who has been Assistant Principal at Tibbott for seven years, launched her career as a 3rd grade teacher in Kansas and also has 3rd and 4th grade teaching experience as well as administrative experience as a “site coordinator” in California. She also served as a resource specialist for a year at Sandburg Elementary School in Joliet.

A graduate of Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD with a degree in elementary education, she holds a Master’s Degree in educational leadership from Chapman University in Palm Desert, CA.

Tucker has served on numerous school and district-level committees and, along with Principal Ana Wilson, has been at the forefront of the nationally-recognized college and career readiness effort at Tibbott. She credits the Tibbott staff with the success the school has enjoyed.

“Our staff and students have a lot of pride,” she said. “Kids leave here with good memories.”
