An Ode to Fathers - That's the Scratch!

In honor of all the Fathers out there!

Through the years many gifts are given.

Mom’s may get flowers and candy it's true.

But, Dad’s get more exciting gifts, too.

Some Dad’s receive ties that glow.

Sometimes a hat with 'No. 1' to show.

Sometimes shirts that say “world’s best dad”

Or even a foam finger to show that they rule.

Coffee cups with their name on the side.

So they can show the world their sense of pride.

Sometimes, they get just a card, whether home made or store bought.

But the best part for Dad’s are the words and the thought.

Many sleepless nights awake waiting for,

Their child or children to walk in the front door.

Many groundings in the past, many talks yet to come.

Many memories ahead with their daughters or sons.

Years without pay and no time off.

Working hard to provide no matter the cost.

Years of adventures, of loves and of loss.

But no matter the reason, the season or rhyme

Good Fathers are there all of the time.

So as this special day comes round again.

Be sure to make your Fathers put on a grin.

For if they were to wear all the gifts we have given, it would surely make everyone laugh.

So bring out all those gifts from the past, and remember those gifts he has given to pass.

For those are the things that matter the most.

Now is the time we all get to boast.

This is for all the Fathers, Grandfathers, Stepfathers and Dads

Thank you for everything you have done, everything you do, and things yet to come

We are proud to be your daughters and sons.
