Holiday Season Kicks Off With Promenade's Symphony in Lights Celebration

Village of Bolingbrook, Promenade present "Symphony in Lights."

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in . The holiday season kicked off in grand style Saturday at the 's annual Symphony in Lights show.

Enthusiastic crowds gathered to soak in the sights and sounds of the season, complete with holiday music, horse-drawn carriage rides, a gingerbread contest, ice sculpture demonstrations and a cast of characters from Frostie the Snowman and The Grinch to the jolly-old elf himself, Santa Claus.

The day’s activities culminated after dark, when Bolingbrook Deputy Mayor LeRoy Brown led the crowd in a countdown to the annual tree lighting and Symphony in Lights show, featuring more than 250,000 computer-controlled lights choreographed to holiday music.

The event was presented by The Promenade and the Village of Bolingbrook and sponsored by the .

The Symphony in Lights show plays each day through the end of the year. The show begins at 5 p.m. and again at every hour until 9 p.m.
