Kenneth Arndt

Kenneth Louis Arndt was born September 11, 1950 to Robert and Margaret Arndt. He grew up in the loving home that his parents built to start their beautiful family. And start they did; with three brothers and three sisters, Ken was pushing his siblings in a stroller as a proud babysitting brother and became the strongest older brother that Cicero has ever known. He attended Our Lady of Charity, Morton East High School, and attended Northern Illinois University.

Ken’s love of food and fellowship led him to a career in restaurant management and owner of multiple restaurants. He was well known for Cubby’s in Downer’s Grove, but he truly found his “home” in Brooster’s Charbroiled Chicken in Bolingbrook. He managed Brooster’s for several years before he bought the store and operated it with huge success for thirteen years. After achieving his dreams with this venture, and many many busy years as a proud owner, Ken decided to become a store manager again. He accepted a position at Panera Bread and was instrumental in the success of many of its different locations.

In 1976, he married Sharon Ann Arndt, and he began a life with her and their two children, Michael and Kimberly, in Schiller Park. In 1978, they moved to Bolingbrook to build an even bigger tribe, and welcoming Bobby and Geoffrey to complete their circle. They lived happily in Bolingbrook until Sharon’s untimely passing in 2002.

He remarried Sonia Corwin in 2008, and they lived together in Darien. He was a beloved grandfather of Alexis, Jack, Kennedy, and Dawson, and he shared his spirit with Sonia’s daughters, Allison and Jamie and their partners, Mike and Rob, as well as their children, Mason, Naomi, and Jack.

Ken loved all things sports and as a diehard Cubs and Bears fan, he understood joy and heartbreak. He will be remembered in all of our hearts when we go to Wrigley Field, Soldier Field, or watch Sunday football together. May his spirit forever be with us.
