2 Bolingbrook Men Arrested After Officers Are Attacked & 1 is Bitten, Police Say

Michael E. Medeiros and Charles R. Toliver are taken into custody following an incident Sunday near the intersection of Bedford Road and Rockhurst Road.

An officer was bitten three times by a subject who became violent following a traffic stop on Sunday afternoon in Bolingbrook, Lt. Mike Rompa said.

He said Bolingbrook Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle occupied by two Bolingbrook men—Michael E. Medeiros, 19, of 4 Vermont Circle, and Charles R. Toliver, 25, of 231 Charlotte—at 2:58 p.m. near the intersection of Bedford Road and Rockhurst Road.

"During the course of the stop, both offenders continuously threatened the officers, disobeyed their commands and then physically attacked the officers," Rompa said.

He said when the officers tried to secure Mederios and Toliver they continued to resist.

"One officer was bitten three times by Medeiros, who also attempted to remove the officer's firearm from the holster during the struggle," Rompa said.

He said both subjects eventually were taken into custody. Medeiros was transported to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, treated and released. He then was processed and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

Rompa said Medeiros is facing charges of aggravated battery, resisting arrest, obstructing and aggravated assault. The Bolingbrook police lieutenant said Toliver was charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest and battery.

Rompa said Toliver was processed and released on an I-Bond.
