Accused Petland Puppy Thief Surrenders

Shelly Hess of Missouri is accused of puppy stealing in three separate incidents, including thefts in Bolingbrook and Naperville.

A woman wanted in connection with the theft of puppies from Petland stores in Bolingbrook, Naperville and Missouri has turned herself in, the Naperville Sun reported.

Shelly Hess, 50, of Chesterfield, Missouri, is charged with felony theft, according to court records. She's charged in connection to the Nov. 7 theft of a Havanese puppy from a store in Lake Saint Louis, Missouri.

She could also face charges for the Nov. 8 thefts of another Havanese puppy from the Naperville Petland at 720 S. Route 59 and a Maltese puppy from the Petland at 744 E. Boughton Rd. in Bolingbrook, according to the Naperville Sun.

Hess was arrested Jan. 28 after turning herself in to Lake Saint Louis Police, the Sun reported.

The Bolingbrook and Naperville cases remain under investigation, although the stolen puppies were found near St. Louis on Nov. 11, according to the Daily Herald.
