Bolingbrook police believe alcohol may be a factor in a similar crash that also took place Sunday. A 44-year-old man was in critical condition after he apparently lost control of his motorcycle at Riverside and Olympic drive, police said.

Romeoville Deputy Chief Steve Lucchesi said police are looking into whether 52-year-old Wade Mano of Joliet was drinking prior to the crash.

“It does appear that alcohol was possibly involved,” Lucchesi said.

Mano was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in critical condition following the crash, while his passenger, 49-year-old Dorothy Taylor of Romeoville, was taken to Loyola and listed in stable condition.

Lucchesi said Mano was heading south on Weber Road at around 7:15 p.m. Sunday when his motorcycle ran a red light and struck an Isuzu Rodeo at the intersection of Weber and Taylor. The Isuzu was facing north in the left-turn lane, police said.

Lucchesi said Mano mistakenly believed the Isuzu was about to make a left turn and swerved to avoid the vehicle, but instead crashed into it.

“According to witnesses, [the Isuzu] had not moved,” Lucchesi said.

Mano was issued a citation for disobeying a red light. Lucchesi said charges may be pending.

“We’re reviewing the alcohol connection,” he said.
