Bolingbrook Blotter: Arson at IKEA, Money Stolen from Sleeping Victim

Arrests, incidents reported by Bolingbrook police.

April 13

Police responded to the report of a theft in the 500 block of Northeast Frontage Road. Someone had pulled a collection box off the wall and removed more than $500 cash, police said.

A Nook HD, worth an estimated $300, was stolen after being left behind at a restaurant in the 600 block of Boughton Road, police said. 

Someone set a couch on fire in the warehouse area of IKEA, 750 E. Boughton Road, police said. 

April 14

Someone broke the glass fire extinguisher and emptied it in a hallway in the 370 building of Whitewater, police said.

Datrell Brooks, 19, of the 100 block of Pepperwood Lane, Bolingbrook, was arrested by Bolingbrook police and charged with battery and retail theft at Stop 24 Liquors, 596 Pinecrest Road.

April 15

Someone stole a wallet and money while the victim was sleeping in a cab compartment area of a vehicle parked in the 500 block of South Bolingbrook Drive, police said.

April 16

Officers responded to a report of theft at Costco, 830 E. Boughton Road. Someone allegedly stole a zippered pouch containing U.S. currency and a debit card from a cart while the victim was shopping, police said.

A wallet and iPhone were stolen from an employee desk in the 700 block of West Crossroads Parkway, police said. Several transactions were made using the victim's credit cards, according to police.

A catalytic converter was cut from a vehicle int eh 100 block of Old Chicago Drive, police said.
