Man Found in Pond Identified: Bolingbrook Police

Bolingbrook police on Wednesday identified the man pulled from a retention pond a day earlier.

Police said the Will County Coroner's office verified the identification of the man as 43-year-old Basilio Fuentes-Garcia of Bolingbrook.

Lt. Mike Rompa said the preliminary cause of death is drowning and there were no signs of trauma.

"At this point in the investigation the incident appears to be accidental with alcohol as a contributing factor," Rompa said.

Fuentes-Garcia's body was found floating in a retention pond in the 300 block of Woodcreek Drive by a landscaping crew at about 10:52 a.m. Tuesday. There was no identification on the body, police said at the time.

The final cause and manner of the person's death is pending the results of autopsy, toxicology and police reports, the coroner said.
