Bolingbrook Gas Station Catches Fire, Causes Traffic Delays

Gas pumps at the Speedway, located near the Boughton Road and Schmidt Road intersection, are closed. Convenient store still open.

A   caught fire this morning after a customer drove off with the nozzle still attached to their car.

The fire, located at the  near the Boughton Road and Schmidt Road intersection, happened shortly after 9 a.m. and caused major traffic delays for morning commuters as  shut down both directions of Boughton Road while firefighters contained the blaze.

The road was reopened and salted by 11 a.m.

The fire was quickly extinguished, Bolingbrook Lieutenant Mike Rompa said. No injuries were reported in the incident.

As a result, none of the station's gas pumps are in working condition and won't be for an unidentified period of time. The convenient store, however, remains open for business.

Looks like the blaze also lowered the gas prices in the picture above.

Those prices will go back up when they start to sell gas again:-(

So whose insurance covers this mishap -- the customer's or Speedway's?

How about a photo of something besides shadows?

Good point, Erno of the Brook. I just came from that direction about a half hour ago and I thought I saw a car by one of the pumps; maybe it was one of the convenient store worker's.
