Bolingbrook Man Accused of Touching Children at Pool, Sexually Abusing 8-Year-Old

Luis Diaz, 52, allegedly abused an 8-year-old at her home after being hired to do heating and cooling repairs.

A 52-year-old Bolingbrook man faces aggravated criminal sexual abuse charges amid allegations he abused an 8-year-old girl and inappropriately touched children at a swimming pool.

Luis Diaz  was arrested Wednesday at his home at 336 Falcon Ridge  Way after an ongoing investigation by Bolingbrook police.

Lt. Mike Rompa said Diaz was initially charged with aggravated battery stemming from a March 1 incident at the Bolingbrook Park District Recreation and Aquatic Complex.

Police responded to the aquatic complex after getting reports of an adult male inappropriately touching children in the swimming pool. Rompa said several witnesses told police Diaz had made inappropriate physical contact with a 5-year-old girl and an 8-year-old girl while in the children's pool.

After numerous interviews were conducted, Diaz was charged with aggravated battery before being processed and released. The charge was pending results of evidence collected in the case, and the incident was under review, Rompa said.

Police later received a report that Diaz had allegedly abused another child prior to the swimming pool incident.

Rompa said Diaz was allegedly hired by a Bolingbrook family to service their heating and cooling unit. Police said he visited the home twice, and on both occasions he allegedly lured an 8-year-old girl into the basement area, where he sexually abused her.

Two warrants for Diaz were issued Tuesday by the Will County State's Attorney's Office. Diaz was taken into custody without incident on March 19 and transported to the Will County jail, police said.

Diaz faces two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim under age 13, according to jail records. His bond was set at $500,000.
