Bolingbrook Man Arrested After Five Hour Standoff With Police

Police end standoff without incident. No serious injuries reported.

A man is in custody after a five-hour standoff on the 200 block of Falconridge Way ended with police arresting the man without incident.

Bolingbrook Lieutenant Mike Rompa said police received a call from a female caller, who said she had just received a text message from her brother indicating he was suicidal, just after noon Wednesday.

Police arrived on the scene shortly thereafter and discovered the house to be secure. The man, though, would not communicate with police and gathered intelligence suggested there may have been guns in the home, Rompa said.

At 5:20 p.m., the Bolingbrook R.E.A.C.T. Team—its special response unit—entered the home and the man was taken into custody without incident.

The man's name is not being released at this moment. A neighbor of the man said he had been depressed since the death of his mother and child.

One officer was transported for a heat condition.

The incident remains under investigation.

Police blocked off the entire 200 block of Falconridge Way, which is just a few blocks down from Hubert Humphrey Middle School and Tibbott Elementary.

spokesman Larry Randa said the event had no effect on students and all kids were dismissed on time and without incident.

Some parents were reporting delays in when their kids got home, though. Randa said it could have affected after-school programs.

"My kids were 45 [minutes] late getting dropped off by the bus and the school recording just called our house to inform us that their school was on lockdown," said Denise Landato Titone on Bolingbrook Patch's Facebook page

Randa said no Valley View schools experienced any sort of lockdown.
