Bolingbrook Man Menaced Ex with Knife During Home Invasion: Police

Police said suspect used garage code to enter his estranged wife's home.

A Bolingbrook man faces felony charges after allegedly entering his estranged wife's home and threatening her and a male victim with a knife, police said.

Alvin Manuel, 43, of the 300 block of Evergreen, is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated unlawful restraint, interfering with the reporting of domestic violence and domestic battery following the incident early Saturday.

Lt. Mike Rompa said police responded to a report of a possible domestic battery at around 12:09 a.m. in the 1500 block of Somerfield.

Rompa said Manuel had arrived at the home at around 11:15 p.m. and used the garage code to enter the house. Although he is legally married to the female victim, police said the couple has been separated for four years and do not live together.

Police said Manuel's estranged wife and a male victim were at home when he entered the house and started a physical altercation with them.

Rompa said Manuel then grabbed a knife and began threatening them "as he decided to then damage property within the house."

The female victim was able to call a relative during the altercation, police said. Manuel fled the home as the woman's family members arrived.

When police arrived, they discovered that the male victim had also fled the residence.

Police located Manuel and take him into custody, according to Rompa. Officers were unable to locate the male victim.

Neither Manuel nor the female victim had visible injuries, Rompa said.

Manuel was taken to the Will County jail and appeared in court on Saturday afternoon. His bond is set at $20,000.
