Bolingbrook Man Spitting Mad After Felony Assault Arrest

Michael D. Bennett threatens officers after being taken into custody, according to a police spokesman.

If Bolingbrook police need a DNA sample from Michael D. Bennett, they'll need look no further than the back seat of one of their squad cars.

Bennett, 38, of 165 Garden, Bolingbrook, spit multiple times in the rear of a police squad car and made numerous threats to officers after being arrested on charges of aggravated assault—a felony—and domestic battery early Tuesday morning in the 100 block of Garden, according to Bolingbrook police lieutenant Mike Rompa.

Rompa said Bolingbrook police received two calls—the first a 9-1-1 hangup and the second from a female victim—at about 2:15 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 20) in reference to a domestic dispute in the area of Veterans and Crossroads.

"Preliminary investigation alleged Bennett was physically abusive toward the female, and he was uncooperative with police during the entire incident," Rompa said.

Bennet was taken into custody, processed and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility. He was awaiting a hearing to determine his bond. There was no word on whether the victim—a 32-year-old female—suffered any kind of injury in the dispute.
