Cold Snap! Irate Homeowner Lashes Out at Snowplow

An irate Eugene Rhodes tossed snow into the street after a plow pushed snow into the apron of his driveway following Tuesday night's snowstorm: police.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A local man faces charges after allegedly screaming obscenities and threatening a public works employee for plowing snow into his driveway.

Eugene K. Rhodes, 30, of the 200 block of Berkeley Drive, was arrested Wednesday morning after a Bolingbrook public works staffer called police, claiming Rhodes had become irate over snow being pushed into his driveway.

The Village of Bolingbrook employee was driving a plow truck down Berkeley Drive just before 9:30 a.m. when the incident happened, police said.

Rhodes allegedly became furious when the truck pushed some snow onto the apron of his driveway and ran after the plow truck, which was stopped a short distance from his home, according to Lt. Mike Rompa.

Rhodes is accused of confronting the snow plow driver, yelling obscenities and threatening him for plowing in his driveway.

Rompa said police who arrived on the scene saw Rhodes picking up large chunks of snow and throwing them into the freshly plowed street.

"Rhodes was still irate," Rompa said.

Offers spoke to Rhodes in his driveway and asked him to produce identification. Instead, Rhodes ignored officers' instructions and began to walk in the direction of his open garage, according to Rompa.

After police told him he was under arrest, Rhodes is accused of running into his garage, pushing an officer and resisting arrest. He was eventually taken into custody.

No one was hurt in the incident, Rompa said.

Rhodes was taken to the Will County jail and charged with disorderly conduct, aggravated battery to a police officer, resisting arrest and obstructing justice, according to police.

He was also ticked for depositing snow on a roadway, Rompa said.
