Bolingbrook Man Will Be Tried on Attempted Murder Charge: Report

Police uncover new information during investigation, level new charges against Scott A. Rokita, according to a published report.

A Bolingbrook man serving three years in the Vandalia Correctional Center after pleading guilty in March to a felony criminal damage to property and a misdemeanor protection order violation charge is now going to be tried for allegedly attempting to hire someone to murder his mother, according to a Chicago Tribune report.

Scott A. Rokita, 42, formerly a resident on the 500 block of Sharon Way, is facing felony solicitation of murder for hire and solicitation of murder charges, according to the report.

He was jailed in connection with a May 2012 criminal damage to property incident where he set fire to his mother's garage and sent her threatening text messages, according to the Tribune report.

"Additional information was revealed that Rokita solicited the murder of the victim on the original order of protection while he was incarcerated," Bolingbrook Police Lt. Mike Rompa stated in the report.

The new charges were filed against Rokita on Nov. 12, and he was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility on Nov. 14, according to the Tribune report.
