Bolingbrook Men Arrested After Drinking in Cemetery

Downers Grove police find two men with a six pack of beer near a tombstone on Oct. 12.

Two Bolingbrook men were arrested by Downers Grove police after allegedly drinking beer in a local cemetery. 

Edward Colon, 47, and Shawn R. Daly, 22 of the 400 block of Independence Lane in Bolingbrook, were charged with drinking on public property at the Downers Grove cemetery in the 5200 block of Main Street around 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 12.

Police responded to a call of people drinking and found Colon and Daly and a six pack of beer near a tombstone when they went to the cemetery.

According to the report, three of the beer bottles were empty and one was partially empty and when asked if he had been drinking, Colon said “no”. As an officer walked toward the beer, Colon said, “we were trying to hide when we drank so no one would see us”. Daly told officers “I didn’t even want to have a drink."
