Shortly after, police responded to a home in the 500 block of East Briarcliff Road.

Upon arrival, the 77-year-old male victim informed officers he lost power to his whole residence. He went into his garage to see what was going on when he was met by a man, dressed in all black. The offender demanded his money and the 77-year-old man related he didn’t have any.

The offender then directed the man to get in the house. The man was not going to let this offender get inside his home, according to police reports, so a struggle ensued and the burglar battered the man. The man began to yell for help and the offender ran off.

Officers began to search the area and K-9's from Joliet and New Lenox responded. A short time later a Bolingbrook Sergeant identified an individual matching the description as a passenger in a car who was acting nervous. Police stopped the car and the victims identified McVay as the burglar.

McVay was processed and taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
