Bolingbrook Police Officer Injured During Walnut Circle Incident

Walnut Circle incident under investigation.

Bolingbrook Police responded to a home at 364 Walnut Circle at about 9:15 a.m. Wednesday in reference to a domestic battery involving a father and son. 

The father called 911 to report his son was violent and had just tried to attack him. The father told police he believed the son was off his medication and had possibly just smoked marijuana, said Bolingbrook Police Lt. Michael Rompa.

When officers arrived at the home they were attacked by Levan Davis , 21, of Bolingbrook, Rompa said. Davis hit one officer in the head with a metal fence pole, Rompa said.

As Davis tried to hit the officer again, a second officer fired two shots at Davis, Rompa said. After being shot, Davis was taken into custody and taken to a local hospital. 

The officer received "severe head wounds" and was being treated at a local hospital. Davis was listed in critical condition, Rompa said. 

The incident remains under investigation, and charges have been filed, Rompa said.

A Bolingbrook Police officer was injured Wednesday morning on Walnut Circle, Bolingbrook Deputy Chief Tom Ross said.

The officer was injured during a shooting incident at 364 Walnut Circle. A neighbor, David Weese, said a resident was shot, but police have not confirmed that. The condition of the officer and the resident are not known. 

Bolingbrook Police Lt. Michael Rompa said police are investigating the incident and would release more information as soon as possible.
