Two men from Canton, IL, were arrested in a Tuesday night traffic stop after police found pills and marijuana, said.
A gold Oldsmobile was stopped around 10:30 p.m. Aug. 14 following three traffic violations, including not activating a turn signal and straddling the lane divider lines.
Both driver Nicholas Evans and Garrett M. Chester were "excessively nervous" during a conversation with police. Officers detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.
Further investigation revealed a marijuana cigarette being located, along with:
- 36 Orange Pills, or 6.11 grams, packaged in a small plastic zip-lock bag, suspect morphine
- One large sandwich style zip-lock bag, containing green leafy plant material, suspected cannabis (approximately 33 grams)
- One small digital scale and light system
Chester was placed under arrest for possession of the items. Evans was arrested for the cannabis cigarette and traffic violations, police said.
Chester was processed and subsequently transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility. Evans was released on an I-Bond.
