Police: Woman Stole, Fled and Left 3-Year-Old Behind

A 19-year-old Bolingbrook woman was charged with retail theft and endangering the life of a child Aug. 2, according to police.

A 19-year-old woman has been charged with retail theft and endangering the life of a child after she allegedly stole $50 in merchandise, fled from into a nearby home and left her 3-year-old child behind. 

Chrystlynn Boyd, 19, 1090 Churchill Dr., was arrested at 4:12 p.m. on Aug. 2. She allegedly stole three tank tops and one piece of costume jewelry by concealing the items. The total value of the items was $50.

Bolingbrook police responded to Kohl's, 1138 W. Boughton Rd., to the call of a retail theft. Officers learned the suspected thief had fled from Kohl's Loss Prevention and was running to a home on the 1000 block of Churchill Drive.

When Kohl's officials tried to stop Boyd, she ran, leaving the 3-year-old behind. Loss Prevention yelled at her that she couldn't leave the child. Boyd began to run again and left the child at the end end of the Kohl's parking lot, near Churchill Drive. 

She then ran inside the home without the child.  The 3-year-old was turned over to other family members at Churchill address.

Boyd was transported to the where she was booked and processed.
