Bolingbrook Teen Charged with Felony After Kicking School Official

Akshat Khare, 17, of Bolingbrook was charged with a felony aggravated battery of a peace officer for kicking School Resource Officer at Naperville Central High School.

A Bolingbrook teenager was arrested and is now awaiting trial after he allegedly kicked a Naperville school official during an altercation on Sept. 10.

Naperville Central High School student Akshat Khare, 17, of Bolingbrook was charged with a felony aggravated battery of a peace officer for kicking School Resource Officer Jon Pope, who also serves as a Naperville police officer, following an argument with one of the school’s deans.

According to reports, Pope observed Khare arguing with the unidentified administrator and took the teen into custody after he flung the contents of a water bottle onto the administrator.

Once Pope had Khare on the ground, Khare allegedly kicked Pope twice.

Pope was not seriously injured.

Khare was later released on bail and is scheduled for arraignment on Oct. 4 in the DuPage County Circuit Court in Wheaton.
