Barrett recently returned to Bolingbrook after his third tour of duty with the National Guard. During his last tour, he served in Kuwait for 10 months.

Barrett received a welcome home surprise from the Promenade Bolingbrook to Tailgater's Sports Bar & Grill. Bolingbrook fire and police officials, the Patriot Guard and others were part of the welcome home celebration. Barrett rode in a 1953 Chevy convertible.

Barrett was born in Freeport, Illinoi and has served in the National Guard for 12 years, according to a Operation Welcome You Home forum. He received the Army Accommodation award in 2013 and plans to continue his work for the Department of Defense as a Blackhawk helicopter mechanic.
