'Brutal, Heinous' Murder Case: Court Supervision

The alleged killers in last week's double homicide making their first appearance was the biggest thing going on in court last week.

It was a whirlwind week at the Joliet courthouse. And it started with the bond hearing for the two young women and two young men charged with a shocking double murder.

Throughout the remainder of the week, disturbing revelations about the crime and four accused of committing it—Joshua Miner, 24, Adam Landerman, 19, Bethany McKee, 18, and Alisa Massaro, 18—started piling up.

Joliet Police Chief Mike Trafton called the murders the most "brutal, heinous" case he's seen in his career.

The families of the two slain men, Terrance Rankins and Eric Glover, both 22, packed the courtroom for Monday's hearing.

But the week didn't end with Monday. A lot of other things were happening at the Will County Courthouse, such as:

  • Killer Marcos Camargo taking a plea deal that should get him less than four years in prison for gunning down a 17-year-old in 2009.
  • The wife of mobster Anthony "Tough Tony" Calabrese filing for divorce. Calabrese is stuck in Leavenworth doing a 62-year federal prison sentence.
  • The ex-wife of former Bulls star Eddy Curry beating the rap on an aggravated battery to a child case.
  • Up in federal court, Joliet white supremacist Brian Moudry was pleading guilty to torching the home of a black family who had the audacity to live on his block.
  • The former principal of Laraway Elementary School getting two years probation for forging a criminal history so a convict friend could get a job.
