Charges Filed Against Bolingbrook Man in Neglected Dogs Case

Brian Q. Brown charged with animal cruelty, faces jail time.

Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow has filed animal cruelty charges against a Bolingbrook man alleging he knowingly starved nearly 30 dogs earlier this month.

Brian Q. Brown, 21, of the 400 block of New Town Court, was slapped with Class A misdemeanor cruel treatment of animals charges Wednesday afternoon. A release from Glasgow said Brown knowingly starved several dogs, including Irish terriers, a bulldog and a Doberman on or about June 11.

Brown also faces eight Class B misdemeanor owner’s duties charges for allegedly failing to provide humane care for the 27 dogs.

Terriers, bulldogs, Dobermans, Japanese chins and a Maltese are among the breeds named specifically in owner’s duties complaints, the release said.

A warrant has been issued for Brown’s arrest and a Will County judge has set bond with the warrant at $25,000.

Class A misdemeanors carry a penalty ranging from probation to one year in jail upon conviction. Class B misdemeanors carry a penalty of probation to six months in jail upon conviction.

Police on New Town Court, a small side circle near the intersection of Pinecrest Road and Falconridge Way, on June 11.

One of those dogs was found dead and most were locked up in cages or kennels in the garage and family room.

Bolingbrook Police Lt. Mike Rompa said the living conditions were deplorable and uninhabitable. 

A court date for Brown remains to be set.
