Cold as Ice: Lawsuit Says Woman All Wet in Bolingbrook

A woman claims she was injured after two men teamed up to dump a bucket of ice water on her.

A woman claims she suffered permanent and lasting injuries when two men teamed to douse her with a bucket of ice water, according to a lawsuit filed in Will County court.

The woman, Rosemary Merritt, was at a house on Redwood Road in Bolingbrook on July 3, 2011, when she was victimized by the two men, the lawsuit said.

One of the men, Gilbert Sanders, grabbed her arm "so that he and co-defendant, Lawrence Cooper, could and did dump a large bucket of ice water" on her, the suit said.

This caused Merritt to stumble, trip and fall, according to the lawsuit, which said she suffered internal and external injuries and "pain in body and mind."

Since then, the lawsuit said, Merritt has had to "expend large sums of money for medical care to be cured of said injuries," and has been "prevented from attending to her usual affairs and duties."
