Cousin Identifies Injured Bolingbrook Motorcyclist

Jose Duarte, 20, was injured in a motorcycle accident last week at Route 53 and Boughton Road.

A family member has identified the 20-year-old motorcyclist injured in last week's accident as Jose Duarte. 

Nayeli Carrasco posted on Thursday that her cousin had woken up from a coma. "...he is severely bruised but thank god nothing worse happened!"

Duarte is listed as of the graduates in the Class of 2012 from Bolingbrook High School.

Around 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, a Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling southbound on Route 53 when it struck a Toyota minivan, driven by a 50-year-old woman from Bolingbrook. The minivan was making a left turn as it was traveling from northbound Route 53 onto westbound Boughton Road.

The Bolingbrook Police Traffic Division is currently investigating the crash and closed the intersection for several hours Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.

The area was re-opened to normal traffic around 3:30 a.m.
