Drunken Driver Smashes Car into Tree: Police

A 20-year-old Bolingbrook woman was charged with driving under the influence, driving too fast for conditions, improper lane usage, no valid registration and no insurance after she collided with a tree at about 7:20 p.m. Thursday on Bedford Road, according to Bolingbrook Police.

Bolingbrook Police Lt. Michael Rompa said while driving north on Bedford the woman attempted to avoid another vehicle. The woman lost control of the car and crossed into the southbound lane striking a tree in the 200 block of Bedford.

The woman's 1999 green Ford Explorer sustained heavy damage, Rompa said.
