Ex-Bolingbrook Cop Drew Peterson Expects to File his Appeal Next Month: Report

Peterson plans to challenge murder conviction, and his attorneys anticipate appellate arguments to be held in late 2014, according to a published report.

Soon, The Drew Peterson Saga could be returning to a courthouse near you for an encore performance.

Peterson, the former Bolingbrook police officer, is expected to formally challenge his conviction next month, according to a Chicago Tribune report. He was sentenced in February to 38 years in prision for murdering his third wife, Kathleen Savio, in 2004.

Peterson, 59, remains the only suspect in the 2007 disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy, whose case prompted authorities to reopen the Savio investigation, the Tribune reports. He denies harming either woman.

And his attorneys are working overtime to back him up.

The Tribune reports Peterson's lawyers recently submitted their third request for permission to exceed the 50-page limit imposed on appeal briefs in Illinois—but were denied by the 3rd District Appellate Court.

Peterson has until Jan. 14 to submit his appeal, and his attorneys expect appellate arguments to be held in late 2014, according to the report.
