Father-Son Duo Tried to Lure Girl into Van: Police

Paul A. Williams and Paul A. Williams Jr. are also accused of trying to run down Good Samaritans who intervened.

A Bolingbrook father and son spent Father's Day in jail after allegedly attempting to lure a 15-year-old girl into a van, then nearly hitting two bystanders who came to the girl's aid, police said.

Lt. Mike Rompa said Bolingbrook police received several 911 calls at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night, reporting a light-colored van trying to hit pedestrians in the area of Blackhawk Lane and Shawnee Drive.

Officers arrived and located the van at Boughton Road and Schmidt Road, and took 43-year-old Paul A. Williams, of the 100 block of Enclave Circle; and Paul A. Williams, Jr., 18, of the 1600 block of Boulder Ridge Drive, into custody.

Rompa said the men allegedly attempted to lure the girl into the vehicle and made sexual comments towards her. The girl ran for help after the front-seat passenger got out of the van, police said.

Meanwhile, a juvenile bystander told two adults about the incident, police said. As the adults, both men, arrived on the scene to assist, the van accelerated, then swerved in an attempt to hit them, Rompa said.

The van did not hit the men, who were uninjured, police said.

Williams and Williams Jr. were positively identified and taken into custody, according to Rompa, before being interviewed and taken to the Will County jail.

The elder Williams is charged with indecent solicitation of a minor and attempted child abduction, as well as attempted aggravated battery, according to jail records. Williams Jr. is charged with indecent solicitation of a minor and attempted child abduction.

Both men are due in Will County court on Monday afternoon.
