Family Dog Killed in Bolingbrook Fire Tuesday Night

Bolingbrook fire crews responded to a house fire on the 300 block of Sword Way Tuesday night.

A dog died from smoke inhalation following a fire that broke out in a Bolingbrook home Tuesday night, according to fire officials. 

A neighbor reported the fire at 9:33 p.m., according to Bolingbrook Fire Marshall Jeff LaJoie. Crews saw heavy smoke and fire showing from the back of the home. 

The residents were not home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. However, their dog died from smoke inhalation.

Damage to the home was estimated to be at $100,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation. 

The American Red Cross assisted the family with finding shelter and other necessities.
