Firefighters Say Homeowner Grilled Too Close to House

A charcoal grill set too close to the house was determined to be the cause of the house fire that , fire officials say.

Bolingbrook Fire Marshal Jeff Lajoie said the homeowners started a charcoal grill too close to the home. The grill eventually set the house ablaze, causing what Lajoie called "total damage."

Firefighters responded to the call at 310 Drake Ave., and fought blazes well into the early morning hours Monday. As firefighters arrived on scene, Battalion Chief Anthony Woitovich said heavy flames were coming out of both stories of the two-story home.
