Homewood Man Knocked Out and Robbed in Chicago Heights

The man awoke at St. James Hospital with no clue how he got there.

A Homewood man learned a tough lesson in not leaving the bar with strangers after he was beaten and robbed Tuesday in Chicago Heights.

The 44-year-old man told police he was at a bar in University Park drinking with a man he didn't know. The stranger said he had to go meet someone in Chicago Heights, according to a Chicago Heights police report.

The Homewood man decided to leave the bar with his new acquaintance in an unknown type of vehicle, according to the report.

When he got out of the car, near the intersection of 13th Street and Center Avenue in Chicago Heights, he was hit in the head, according to the report.

The man woke up at St. James Hospital with no memory of how he got there. He was missing his wallet, which contained several important documents, including a multiple credit cards, his driver's license and banking information, police said.

The man described his drinking buddy as 6-foot-2 and about 250 pounds. He told police the man appeared to be between 35 and 40 years old.

In this particular case the description is not important and it seems likely the victim was so wasted his description would be unrelaible but in many other cases it is relevant. Let's be real, in the absence of a description many of us presume the race of the assailants anyway...

Thanks, FlossmoorMom. You're right. We stick to the reports as closely as possible, both for journalistic integrity and legal reasons (blotters are the easiest way to get into legal conflict if you're not careful). If there is relevant, verifiable information, you can be assured we'll include it.
