Former Drew Peterson attorney Joel Brodsky didn’t get to be part of the wife-killer’s appeal team, but someone has taken to a Twitter account in his name to insult the lawyers still on the case.

“Poor Drew, now he's got a pathological narcissist, an alcoholic, and a novice, for his appellate lawyers #drewpeterson,” reads a tweet sent from the account “Joel A. Brodsky Esq.” The tweet was sent to the account’s 39 followers at 11:35 p.m. on the Fourth of July.

The tweet also included a link to a news account of attorneys taking Peterson’s case from the state’s appellate defender’s office.

Attorneys Steve Greenberg, David Peilet and John Heiderscheidt last week requested leave to file an appearance in Peterson’s case. Greenberg represented Peterson, 59, during his murder trial last summer. Peilet was part of Peterson's defense team during the post-conviction push to win a new trial. Heiderscheidt represents Peterson in a pending wrongful death case brought against him by relatives of his slain third wife, Kathleen Savio.

Brodsky answered a phone call made to his office Monday afternoon. When asked about his Twitter account he hung up.

It is not clear which of the three attorneys is supposed to be the narcissist, the alcoholic or the novice.

Brodsky took Peterson’s case soon after the former Bolingbrook cop’s fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, mysteriously vanished in October 2007. He lasted as Peterson's lawyer through last summer's trial. But after Peterson was found guilty of drowning Savio, the case moved on without Brodsky.

Brodsky claimed he left Peterson's defense team of his own volition but Greenberg filed court papers saying Brodsky was “discharged.”

Greenberg and Peilet, along with attorney Joseph “Shark” Lopez, then tried to get Will County Judge Edward Burmila to grant Peterson a new trial. One reason Peterson needed a new trial, according to his attorneys, was the allegedly ineffective counsel provided by Brodsky.

Burmila denied Peterson a new trial, but did forward information on Brodsky to the Illinois Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission for review.

Peterson is serving a 38-year prison sentence at Downstate Menard Correctional Center. Stacy Peterson remains missing.
