Man Beaten During Bolingbrook Armed Robbery: Police
The incident remains under investigation.
An arrest was made this week in an Oct. 7, 2013 armed robbery in Bolingbrook, police said.
Bolingbrook Lt. Mike Rompa said the victim was attacked, battered and knocked to the floor during an apparent ruse robbery.
Police said the alleged victim was in his office at Illinois Paper Company, 6 Territorial Ct., when a black male entered the lobby of the business and asked about job openings. The victim reportedly directed the suspect to another warehouse down the street, and as he opened the door to point the suspect in the right direction, he noticed two additional black males standing out side the door.
Police said the three suspects then attacked the 48-year-old victim, knocking him to the floor before going through his pockets and stealing his cash and wallet. The man suffered minor injury in the incident, Rompa sa
The victim fled back into the business and notified a coworker, according to police, while the offenders fled in an unknown direction. The suspects were described as teenage males dressed in black hoodies, according to police.
Rompa said investigators were able to link Michael McCarroll, 38, of Chicago, to the case. McCarroll was arrested Thursday and booked into the Will County jail on felony charges of armed robbery and battery, according to police.
Police have not confirmed whether a weapon was used in the crime, according to Rompa, who said the incident remains under investigation.
McCarroll is being held at the Will County jail on $500,000 bond.
