Men Arrested After Crashing Car, Fleeing Scene: Police

Alleged driver charged with DUI after car hits tree in Bolingbrook.

Bolingbrook police arrested two men who allegedly fled the scene after a reported DUI crash Friday night.

Lt. Mike Rompa said police responded to a report of a crash at around 8:09 p.m. at Schmidt Road and Briarclff Road. According to police, the driver allegedly struck a tree and then fled the scene.

Officers were able to locate the occupants of the vehicle, identified as Joshua Meador, 26, and Joseph Derbas, 18, of Bolingbrook, Rompa said.

Meador reportedly fled on foot, and was taken into custody on a charge of resisting/obstructing in the 100 block of Nottingham, police said.

Derbas, who was allegedly the driver, was also arrested and charged with felony DUI, driving on a suspended license, failure to report an accident and traffic offenses, Rompa said.

An officer was treated at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital for a leg injury after pursuing Meador, Rompa said.
