Motorcyclist Seriously Injured After Route 31 Crash Friday With Pickup Truck

A Bolingbrook man on a motorcycle late Friday night struck the passenger door of the pickup truck. The driver of the pickup truck received a traffic violation for failure to yield while turning left.

On July 8th at 11:45 p.m., officers of the North Aurora Police Department were dispatched to Rt. 31 & I‐88 entrance for a report of a traffic crash with injuries. Upon arrival, officers discovered a motorcycle versus full size pickup traffic crash.

The motorcycle rider was identified as Daniel D. Donaldson of the 200 blk. of Galewood Dr., Bolingbrook. The pickup driver was identified as Jerry Butler the 8600 blk. of W. 85th St., Justice, IL.

A preliminary investigation has revealed that Donaldson was southbound on Rt. 31 and the PU was northbound on Rt. 31 turning left onto the I‐88 entrance ramp when the MC struck the passenger side of the PU. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash at this time.

Donaldson and Butler were transported to Provena‐Mercy Center Hospital by North Aurora Fire Department ambulances. Donaldson was later airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, IL with serious injuries. Butler remains at Provena‐Mercy Center in an unknown condition.

Donaldson was riding a black 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle and Butler was driving a blue 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche. Both vehicles are currently in North Aurora Police custody.

At this time, the case remains under investigation. Butler was charged with a traffic violation—failure to yield turning left.
