Sheriff Terry Vogel said Cooper and Bromfield, who both had Plainfield addresses, were in Door County to attend the wedding of Cooper's sister.

During an Aug. 21 court appearance, Door County District Attorney Raymond Pelrine said Cooper had hoped to rekindle a romance with Bromfield, and became angry when she did not share his feelings.

Pelrine said Cooper and Bromfield had argued prior to Cooper's sister's wedding. Following the reception, they returned to the Sand Bay Resort in Nasewaupee, where Cooper began to drink.

After Bromfield went to sleep, Cooper "proceeded to sit in the room feeling more angry and frustrated. Not only (about) the breakup of the relationship ... but his feeling of her apparent coldness and indifference to him throughout the evening," Pelrine said, according to a Door County Advocate report.

Cooper is accused of waking Bromfield between 2 and 3 a.m. and strangling her before having sex with her body.

On Sunday, Aug. 19, Cooper went to a gas station in Sister Bay, Wisconsin, where he asked the owner to call 911, telling her he needed to report a murder. Vogel said Cooper told police he had killed his girlfriend.

Cooper's bond was set at $1 million during his Aug. 21 hearing.

What is your obsession with the man's address? These towns are right next door to each other, the basically bleed into each other. Like others have said, it doesn't matter where he's from, his residence is prison/court now.

Well said. I don't understand who the big deal is. I live in Bolingbrook, but I read the Patch from Plainfield, Joliet, Naperville, etc. I don't live in a box, I want to know what is going on around me. Besides, wasn't Alisha from Plainfield? This is important news for the Plainfield Patch.

What a beautiful young woman. She reminds me of the actress Rachael Leigh Cook. It's such a shame that any human being can do this let alone someone who once cared about you. He is where he belongs now.

Okay, I can't believe I am actually writing and responding to this but I looked up a map of Joliet city limits. The street that Cooper lived on sits right on the border of Joliet and Plainfield. The street IS in Joliet's city limits but just to the west of the street is the border. So, the homes on that street literally could be joliet when standing in the street and you could be in Plainfield in the back yard. So what is the difference?????? SO minor in such a tragic situation.
