No Injuries in Tuesday Morning House Fire

Fire officials say a fireplace fire was the cause of a house fire early Tuesday morning.

An early-morning house fire yielded no injuries but did cause more than $70,000 worth of damage to a home on Bolingbrook’s east side Tuesday, officials said.

Bolingbrook firefighters were called to house fire at 705 N. Ashbury Ave. shortly after midnight Tuesday.

Bolingbrook Batalion Chief Dan Ross said crews were on scene five minutes later—the home was less than a mile away from Bolingbrook’s Fire Station Three—and saw flames coming from the first and second floors of the home as well as the attic, where most of the fire took place.

Ross said the homeowners were evacuating the house when firefighters arrived and that the fire was believed to start in the home's fireplace.

More than three-fourths of the roof was either taken off by firefighters or caved in. and most of the home's windows were boarded up as of Tuesday afternoon.
