No Injuries Reported in Morning House Fire

No injuries were reported in a Bolingbrook house fire Wednesday morning. A dog, however, is reported missing.

A Bolingbrook family is left without a home after a fire claimed their house on the west side of town this morning.

Firefighters responded to a call on the 100 block of Grady Drive shortly before 11 a.m. The fire, which Battalion Chief Anthony Woitovich said started in the basement, had spread to the rest of the house as firefighters removed the front door and smashed in several of the home's windows to gain access.

No injuries were reported. The family's dog is still missing.

Myesha Mosley, who lived in the house, said she was returning from taking her child to school when she saw several emergency crews working on her home. Mosley said her family would bunk with relatives in the meantime.

Christine Mellish, who was on her way to her daughter's house just down the street, said she noticed smoke coming from the home and called 911 to alert officials of the fire. Mellish said fire crews were on the scene within a few minutes.

Mellish said she initially thought the smoke was that of a dryer vent. But as she investigated further, Mellish started smelling the fire, she said.

"I got out of the car and started banging on the door," she said. "I touched the nob and noticed the door was unlocked so I went in and started screaming to see if anyone was in there."

Woitovich said the fire is still investigating the cause.

Fire crews from Romeoville, Naperville, Lisle-Woodridge and Lockport also assisted in the fire. Woitovich said the source of the fire is still unknown.
