Overnight Fire Destroys Bolingbrook Home

No injuries reported in incident.

A late-night house fire Sunday gutted a Bolingbrook family's home but caused no injuries, firefighters say.

Firefighters responded to the call at 310 Drake Ave. at 11:34 p.m. Sunday night and fought blazes well into the early morning hours Monday. As firefighters arrived on the scene, Battalion Chief Anthony Woitovich said heavy flames were coming out of both stories of the two-story home.

As of 2 a.m., firefighters were still unable to enter the home to investigate the fire because of the damage done. Woitovich said the home was uninhabitable.

Woitovich said the family, who said they were all accounted for, was able to escape the home before the flames overtook the house. But until firefighters were able to enter the home, a final injury report would be unknown, Woitovich said.

The cause of the fire remains unknown and the incident is under investigation.

The Woodridge-Lisle, Naperville, Plainfield, Romeoville and Downers Grove fire departments assisted in the blaze. Woitovich said the Bolingbrook Fire Department had 30 firefighters on scene.
