Pedestrian Dies in Route 53 Crash
Gilberto Damian, 33, of Bolingbrook, died of his injuries after being struck by a vehicle late Thursday.
Romeoville police are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian late Thursday night on Route 53.
Police said Victor Garcia, 19, of Joliet, was driving south on Route 53 just north of Enterprise Drive at 11:51 p.m. when his 1998 Ford Explorer struck pedestrian Gilberto Damian.
Damian, a 33-year-old Bolingbrook resident, was taken to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, where he died of his injuries, police said.
Garcia refused medical treatment at the scene of the crash.
The incident is still under investigation, according to police.
