Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Romeoville Crash

Samuel Bursey died Thursday night, according to the coroner's office.

A 61-year-old Plainfield man died Thursday night after he was struck by a vehicle on Weber Road, according to the Will County Coroner's office.

Samuel L. Bursey was hit at around 9:34 p.m. by a northbound 2000 Honda Civic as he was crossing Weber Road north of 135th Street/Romeo Road, according to Romeoville police. He was pronounced dead at 10:15 p.m. at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital.

The driver of the Honda, 23-year-old Jorge Olarte of Aurora, refused treatment at the scene of the crash, police said. He was taken into custody and cited for driving without a valid license and operating an uninsured vehicle, according to police.

The Romeoville Police Department traffic division continues to investigate the accident, police said.
