Police Blotter: Machinery, Mountain Bike, Luggage Stolen From Garage

Friday, Sept. 23

1. Residential burglary

Police were called to the 900 block of Ashbury Avenue for the report of a residential burglary. A homeowner told police they heard voices in the rear of the yard and later discovered someone entered the unsecured shed and took a dirt tiller, power washer, mountain bike, lawn mower, large suitcase and miscellaneous tools between 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Loss valued at $1,500.

2. Unlawful use of a weapon

Melecio Ayala, 21, of the 4000 block of Grove Avenue in Hammond, Ind., was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and failure to signal following a traffic stop at 8 p.m.

3. Criminal damage to a motor vehicle

John Kierstein, 21, of the 100 block of Nutwood Court, and Emily Treat, 20, of the 200 block of Eagle Court, were both charged with criminal damage to a motor vehicle at 11:27 p.m.

4. Stolen tools

Denzil Bell, 30, of the first block of Elm Court, was charged with possession of stolen property in Lot H of Wildwood Lane at 1:30 p.m. following a call to the area for subjects trying to sell tools.

5. Prescription pills stolen from car

A car parked on the 200 block of Edgehill Drive was broken into and prescription pills were taken at 10:05 p.m.

6. Stolen trailer

A white 2003 Great Dane semi-trailer was taken from the parking lot on the 200 block of Old Chicago Drive between Sept. 17 and Sept. 23.

7. Warrant

Brittany Wheeler, 18, of the 600 block of Marquette Road in Joliet, was charged with an in-state warrant following a traffic stop at the intersection of Boughton Road and Aspen Drive at 1:01 p.m.
