Police Blotter: Thief Steals $3k Worth of White Strips, Razors

Saturday, Sept. 4

1. Car burglary

Police responded to the 500 block of Wild Meadow Drive for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. Two cars that were parked in the same driveway had several items taken overnight, including GPS units, XM radios, wireless headphones and gym shoes.

2. Warrant

Arthur Garcia, 18, of the 300 block of Shady Lane, was charged with an in-state warrant in Lot C of Beaconridge Drive at 7:41 pm.

Friday, Sept. 3

3. Endangering the life of a child

Lorenzo Newman, 18, of the 200 block of Prairie Drive, was charged with no valid driver’s license, reckless driving and endangering the life of children following a traffic stop on the 200 block of Shady Lane at 7:46 p.m.

4. Traffic stop yields two arrests

A 16-year-old was charged with improper use of registration, no valid driver’s license and no insurance, and James Moore II, 19, of the 200 block of Seabury Road, was charged with resisting a peace officer following a traffic stop on the 100 block of Olympic Drive at 6:34 p.m.

5. Laptop, jewelry stolen from home

A laptop, brief case and three necklaces were taken from a home on the 100 block of Somerset Lane between 7:06 p.m. and 11:07 p.m.  The homeowner told police they discovered the rear door unlocked.

6. DUI

Esmerelda Barajas, 29, of the 5900 block of 16th Street in Cicero, was charged with DUI, a traffic signal violation and a moving violation following a traffic stop at the intersection of Route 53 and Old Chicago Drive at 2:47 a.m.

7. Retail theft

Police were called to the Meijer at 755 E. Boughton Rd. for the report of a retail theft. On Sept. 1 at 10 p.m., an unknown subject entered the store and filled a shopping cart with whiting strips, razors, then exited the store without paying. Loss valued at $3,700.
