Police: Gang Dispute Results in Flipped Car Near Humphrey Middle School

Four Bolingbrook men have been charged in the incident.

Police say an ongoing gang dispute boiled over last week and ended in a car chase which flipped a car near a Bolingbrook middle school.

Four Bolingbrook men have been arrested in the incident.

According to police, Jaime and Daniel Velez, brothers that live on the 100 block of Seabury Road, went to a home on the 500 block of Falconridge Way on July 1 after an ongoing dispute between gang members. Upon arrival, the brothers threw rocks at Angello Castillo’s Chevy Suburban, which was parked in the driveway. The windshield of the car was damaged.

Bolingbrook Lieutenant Mike Rompa said Sergio Gloria then responded by damaging the Velez’s car, a Chevy Blazer, by breaking its windows. The Velez brothers drove off and were chased by Castillo in the Suburban.

Castillo then rammed the Valez brothers at the corner of Sword Way and Falconridge, causing the Blazer to roll over just a few blocks away from , Rompa said.

Castillo fled the scene, the police report said.

The Velez brothers were treated at and were initially released. But while at the police station, both brothers displayed additional symptoms from the accident and were transported back to ABH for minor injuries and were later released.

In the end, the Velez brothers and Gloria were charged with felony criminal damage to property, while Castillo was charged with felony aggravated battery with a motor vehicle and other traffic offenses.

All four are in the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

LOL... I'm not surprised you would call us "thiefs", it's thieves. I love how you and your site butcher so many things: Four Fathers (for Fathers) in lou of (in lieu of), Statue of limitations (statute of limitations), your (you're), runner stamp (rubber stamp). I'm glad that PhD is working out for you.

OK sock puppet.

Well, Jay, it just goes to show you, it's always something! If it's not one thing, it's another! Whine, whine, whine.
Marie July 08, 2011 at 07:25 PM
Jay, I'm kind of surprised that you say that you haven't complained about the tax assessor. You complain about high property taxes and it's his office that decided the assessed value of your property. Do you really think that the fair market value of your home is 3 times what it is assessed at? I doubt that anyone would be able to sell their home today for the fair market value determined by the assessor's office.

Something from FUBU, matching top & shorts hanging 10 inches below the waist with some grungy boxer shorts along with some knee-high black socks with high-top Kobe's.

You cannot handle the truth, and free speech is not tolerated here obviously. The South East side of town is a barrio, the recent census for Bolingbrook on Wikpedia states roughly 21%black,52% white and 26% latino(illegals not counted I guess)and 1% other??Look at the police logs and the majority of the arrestees are Latino and they usually NEVER have auto insurance.I'm sorry but this is a reality, they may buy a policy to get the insurance card and then they cancel it right away just to have the insurance card fraudulently.Who do you see driving around all the beater pick up trucks with numerous code violations, cracked windsheilds, broken tail lights, bald tires, etc????That's right, the garbage pickers speeding through the neighborhoods trying to beat each other looking for stuff to take to Montana Charlies fleamarket. Not being racist, just keeping it real, don't bury your head in the sand. Why does Mexico kick out the Guatemalans who sneek across their border? If you came here legally, fantastic! If you snuck in,you are ILLEGAL,get the hell out and quit leeching off the other Americans who pay taxes! The Latinos who came here legally resent the mooches that give them a bad name.Thank-goodness Texas does'nt kiss Washingtons ass and they got rid of the illegal that murdered that 16 year old girl down there. And Jennifer,as long as you make comments like Tom Selleck and I need to be traced and made to leave Bolingbrook. You sound like Hitler youth in 1940's Germany.Been here since 1969!!!
Buford T. Justice July 11, 2011 at 01:19 AM
You're completely correct!!I'm afraid of the Rich White Kid Gangs the most!! Those ruffians eat all the caviar and drink all the finest champaigns and then drive around the town raising hell in their Bentleys. We may not be the original people here, but we gave the Indians beads and trinkets for their land before we killed the Buffalo and gave them casinos.I saw George Lopez use the term beaners on Comedy Central, and he even hates whitey!!
Buford T. Justice July 11, 2011 at 01:25 AM
Why do so many people have shitty looking yards in this town?Mow your f'in grass,or weeds. This town has some really crappy yards even in the rich sections. The code inforcement officers need to start ticketing these banks that own foreclosed homes. And people need to take more pride in their property.

I would love to meet anyone on here at the event that uses a code name. I got something to say to you. I will be there as a member of the press. You can't miss me. I will be the one Roger will be throwing out by by suit coats as I take pics for the site. I will capture the bar, the attendees, the politicians, the people collecting the envelopes, and of course the guest list!
Jay Washington July 11, 2011 at 01:37 AM
The tax assessor is not responsible for your high taxes. Any resident that does not step forward and ask for a re-assessment is responsible. BTW, I don't care if I don't always spell right. I am not normally in the journalism business. I am in property and business. I have a BA and did not pursue more because of the success of my businesses at an early age. The web site is a political hobby of mine I picked up about two years ago when I met with Bonnie and agreed about the local administration wrong doings. I bought the site and run it with good intention of supplying information to the public who have no time to do their own research. So far, we have a great fan base and I am proud of the dedicated volunteers that contribute news. Bolingbrook residents are wonderful and need an outlet. Although many of you do not like Bonnie, that is propaganda driven. I have never met someone so dedicated to improving Bolingbrook. She is kind, generous, and donates time and money to the cause. She does not deserve the treatement she gets when you guys attack her instead of me, the owner of the site. Oh, and someone is using the name Jay, and that is not me.
Marie July 11, 2011 at 11:30 AM
Jay, You avoided answering my question about the article that you wrote on your site about legalizing drugs. Are you in favor of this or not? You also say that the assessor has nothing to do with property taxes being high but that is not true. The assessor's office determines the assessed value of the property. That value is what is used to calculate your taxes. Sure, you can appeal but how many people are successful in getting their taxes reduced. Not many. This can be verified by the small public notice section in the newspaper. I know many people that filed an appeal (myself included) but their appeal was thrown out because the assessor's office determined that they are assessed at a similar rate as their neighbors with the same model house. Forget the fact that no home has sold in their neighborhood in the last 5 years (BTW, they are only supposed to use the last 3 years) for anything close to what they are assessed at. Some took their appeal to the county only to be told that they sided with the assessor. I know of some that went all the way to the state level but even 4 months later, they still don't have a docket #. A call to the state tells them that it will be at least 4 more months before it can even be put on the schedule because of the volume of appeals that they have but payments were already due in June and will be due in Sept. Lastly, why do you insist on bringing Bonnie into the discussions here? It's getting quite old. This topic has nothing to do with her.
Jennifer July 11, 2011 at 02:42 PM
Jaskie, Why don't you tell Jay what you will be wearing so he can find you. It would be easier that way dont you think?
Marie July 11, 2011 at 02:47 PM
Jay, you show a lot of anger and make a lot of assumptions about me but you don't know me. I don't work for the village or know anyone that does. I am a concerned citizen just like you but I stick to facts. I don't hate Bonnie or anyone from your group but I will question what you say if it I don't believe it is accurate. I'm sorry that you don't like that and that is probably why you censor the comments made at your site. The truth is that the assessor's office (DuPage, Wheatland or whatever township you live in) determines the assessed value. That value is then used by the different taxing bodies. You blame the mayor for the high tax bill but the village portion of the tax bill is roughly 8.75% of the total tax bill. (7.7630 total tax rate with a village tax rate of 0.6666) and in the Valley View school district, approx 67% of the property tax bill goes to them. (5.2276 out of a total tax rate of 7.7630). Since you have defended the assessments, one might think that you have something to gain.? Can you honestly say that if you were to sell your home today, that you would get 3 times the assessed value? I was just curious about your opinion on the article that you printed. It talks about supporting the legalization of drugs but here, you talk about the "say no to drugs" campaign. I don't have multiple names. I use my name and only my name to post. I do spend some free time here just like you do. If you compare the # of posts, I think that you have made more than I have.
Marie July 11, 2011 at 03:14 PM
Jennifer, I didn't have any posts removed. As a matter of fact, I commented on the post that he made to me but it is gone as well. Did you or Jay have it removed because it stated facts?
jaskie1505 July 11, 2011 at 03:14 PM
Jay, what's up with the negative attitude. You have been very bitter all weekend and today. Not sure why your so upset. What media group do you represent. I'm fairly new on here, and apparently the rest of the group is aware of where to find your articles but I'm not. See you at the H2O event. You apparently feel you have a lot to gain by being there and taking pictures, but you act like that is a threat to those who will be in attendance. Why is that? Most people attending will be there to support a good cause. Believe it or not, H2O has done a lot of good for a lot of teens.

I laugh at Jennifer about having posts removed. She is a hypocritical when it comes to that subject. She wants to censor items she has a problem with because she is the Patch Nazi. When Roger leaves office after this term is up,I cannot wait to see the buffoons that run for mayor.

I'll be at the event Jay. I'm looking froward to our encounter and hearing what you'll have to say to me in person.

Once upon a time, there was a king who ruled a prosperous country. One day, he went for a trip to some distant areas of his country. When he came back to his palace, he complained that his feet were very painful, because it was the first time that he went for such a long trip, and the road that he went through was very rough and stony. He then ordered his people to cover every road of the entire country with leather. Definitely, this would need thousands of animal’ skin, and would cost a huge amount of money. Then one of his wise servant dared himself to tell the king, “Why do you have to spend tha amount of money unnecessarily? Why don’t you just cut a little piece of leather to cover your feet?” The king was surprised, but he later agreed to his suggestion, to make a “shoe” for himself. There is actually a valuable lesson of life in this story: “To make this world a happy place to live, you better change yourself - your heart; and not the world.”

I love the Patch because I can find out EVERYTHING that is going on in Bolingbrook. I LOVE the Bolingbrook area, the park district, shopping, etc. However, due to all the crime increase and thugs I have been seeing near my neighborhood I am seriously considering moving. I know things can happen ANYWHERE-- Naperville, Downers Grove, etc but seems like Bolingbrook sure get has alot of crime. I know the BPD is doing all they can to curtail the violence and crime, but I have small children and don't feel safe being outside in my neighborhood at night. I want my children to grow up in a neighborhood where I feel safe and not worry if thugs are going to rob us at gun point or there will be gang fights.
