Police: Hair Stylist Tased After Attempting To Steal Sandals
Patrick Diebold, 33, of Downers Grove, is being charged with retail theft, aggravated assault, assault, resisting a peace officer and possession of a controlled substance after an altercation at the Meijer on Bolingbrook's east side, according to police.
A Downers Grove man was tased by an on-duty Bolingbrook officer Thursday morning after police said he tried to steal a pair of sandals from the at 755 E. Boughton Road.
Patrick Diebold, 33, of the 1100 block of Palmer Street in Downers Grove, is being charged with retail theft, aggravated assault, assault, resisting a peace officer and possession of a controlled substance after an altercation at the Meijer on Bolingbrook’s east side, police said.
According to reports, a Meijer security guard witnessed Diebold trying to steal a Bluetooth headset, razor blades, sandals and miscellaneous personal hygiene items early Thursday morning.

A Bolingbrook police officer already on the scene went to assist the security guard when Diebold resisted arrest, according to reports. The officer subsequently tased Diebold and he was taken into custody, police said.
Diebold, who police said is a hair stylist, was taken to for treatment and released. He is now in the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
