Police Investigate Non-Fatal Shooting on Bolingbrook's East Side

18-year-old, two juveniles charged with unlawful use of weapon. Alleged shooter remains at large.

Police are investigating an incident that had several juveniles shot at on Bolingbrook’s east side Saturday night.

According to police, officers responded to the 600 block of Preston Drive for possible shots fired.

Bolingbrook Lieutenant Michael Rompa said Angelo Castillo, 18, of Bolingbrook, and a group of four juveniles—two males and two females—were attempting to locate an unknown person in an attempt to fight.

When they found the person in a nearby fire lane, Castillo’s group was allegedly shot at two or three times.

While police were en route to the incident, they were advised by security officers about a vehicle involved in the shooting. That car, which had Castillo and the four juveniles, was subsequently pulled over. Castillo and all four juveniles were arrested after police found two baseball bats and a large knife in the car.

The two females were released without charges while the three male subjects, including Castillo, were charged with local unlawful use of a weapon.
